Louis Joseph Vogel, 88, of Mechanicsville, MD, died on March 30, 2013 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, Charlotte Hall, MD. He was born on June 21, 1924, in Easton, MD, son of the late William and Edna Mae (Funk) Vogel.

Mr. Vogel retired from the Government Printing Office, where he worked for more than 25 years. When not working, Mr. Vogel could be found fishing, crabbing, and hunting, passions he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Mr. Vogel also served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

In addition to his parents, Louis was predeceased by his wife Eileen.

He is survived by his sons, Douglas Vogel (Joan) of Hughesville, MD, and Gordon Vogel of Mechanicsville, MD; grandchildren, Abby, Brian, Allison, and Melissa; great granddaughter Aubrey; and his sister, Margie Patterson.

Family and friends will be received for Mr. Vogel's Life Celebration on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Graveside Service and Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
