Sophie Theresa Kowalski of La Plata, MD died on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Charles County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in La Plata, MD. She was 95 years old.

Mrs. Kowalski was a homemaker and a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Issue, MD. She was an active member of the Rosary Altar Society for 40 years and the Catholic Daughters in NY. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and gardening.

Daughter of the late Alexander Mocarski and the late Gladys Dibikowski Mocarski. Predeceased by her parents; her late husband: Joseph Francis Kowalski; and one late son-in-law: Craig Mathews.

Survived by one son: Joseph F. (Denice) Kowalski III of Melborne, FL; one daughter: Bernadette Mathews of Cobb Island, MD; and two grandchildren: Joseph F. Kowalski IV and Kord Kowalski.

Visitation: Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 9AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Holy Ghost Catholic Church - Issue (15848 Rock Point Road, Newburg, MD 20664). Clergy: Fr. Greg Coan. Interment: Gate of Heaven Cemetery (13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906).
