Gertrude Rosa "Gerti" Meck, 87, of Clinton, MD, passed away at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD on February 10, 2013. She was born on October 26, 1925 in Vienna, Austria to the late Anna Molcik.

Gerti came to New York in December of 1951 as Mrs. William Meck where she started a family and became a proud American citizen. She enjoyed driving in Race Car Rally's, cooking, gardening, ceramics and time at the Yacht Club aboard the DeeDee Bird. She spent many years as a seamstress before dedicating 17 years as a loving volunteer at the American Red Cross, where she welcomed home the Wounded Warriors from Desert Storm.

Gerti is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, William Henry Meck, Jr. of Clinton, MD; her children, William Henry Meck, III of Mechanicsville, MD, Patricia M. (Roger) Herrell of Mechanicsville, MD, Alida M. Meck of Knightsen, CA; and her Granddaughter, Crystal Marie.

Family and friends will be received for Gerti's Memorial Life Celebration Gathering on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Memorial Service will begin at 4:30 PM, here at the funeral home. Reverend James Chance will officiate. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, at a later date.
