Joseph Albert Markovich, 89, of Leonardtown, MD, passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 2, 2013 in Callaway, MD. Born on January 21, 1924 he was the son of the late George and Anna Lesko Markovich.

Joseph was the loving husband of Betty S. Markovich whom he married on March 24, 1948 in Binghamton, NY, and who resides in Leonardtown, MD.

Mr. Markovich is survived by his sons Joseph P. Markovich (Linda) of Monrovia, MD, John P. Markovich of Waldorf, MD., 3 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his brother Thomas and Francis Markovich.

Joseph graduated from Binghamton High School Binghampton, NY in 1941. Mr. Markovich served in the United States Marine corps from October 1941 to September 1962, his duties included; Guadalcanal, Australia, New Guinea,, New Britain, Peleliu, Korea, Campaigns included; Guadalcanal, Australia, New Guinea, New Britain, Peleliu, Korea, retiring after 21 years of service in September 1962.

Mr. Markovich worked at a Accountant for the United States Civil Service retiring in 1978 Joe was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Moose Lodge, and he enjoyed fishing.
