Thelma Louise Nutwell, 98, of Newburg died Sept. 30, 2012, at the Charles County Nursing Rehabilitation Center (CCNRC), La Plata, Md. Born on June 10, 1914, in Newport, MD, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Goldsmith and Mamie Hodges Goldsmith.

Thelma enjoyed cooking and hosting reunions for her family and friends. Her employment included waitressing at the former Hotel Charles and Earl's Truck Stop and then she moved on to waitress at local crab houses such as Captain Drinks, Robertson's and Aqua-Land. She was an avid 10-pin bowler at Curly's and revered by her former students as one of the "BEST" School Bus Drivers in Charles County for 32 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Spencer J. Nutwell, son Hilray E. "Eddie", and daughter Ann Louise "Skeeter" Nutwell.

She is survived by her daughters; Barbara A. Howell, Patricia A. Barber, Joan H. Neives, Jane J. and her husband John I. Bond son Neil L. "Buddy" Nutwell and his wife Cherie. She has 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren and a Great-Great-grandson.

Pall-bearers are Robert "Steele" Hardesty, Johnny Goldsmith, John I. Bond, Jr., James W. Windsor, Chad L. Nutwell and Tyler G. Sage. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, with prayers at 7 PM Oct 5th at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata. Service will take place at 10 AM, Christ Episcopal Church, Wayside, MD. Pastor Moe Diggs will officiate. Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Church-Wayside Parish or the Charles County Nursing & Rehab Center, or a charity of one's choice.
