Dorothy "Dot" Bay Cooksey of La Plata, MD died on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, MD. She was 88 years old.

Mrs. Cooksey was a member of the La Plata United Methodist Church and the Charles County Farm Bureau. Dot graduated from Slate Ridge High School, Goldey Business College in Wilmington, DE, and the University of MD. She also served with the Navy Waves and was honorably discharged on July 18, 1946. Dot worked as a clerk of the Circuit Court in Charles County, a teller for the Bank of Southern Maryland, and at H&R Block preparing taxes.

Daughter of the late John W. Bay and the late Pauline Wilson Bay.

Predeceased by her parents; her late husband Howard R. Cooksey; one son Bobby Cooksey; and one son-in-law Earl Almond.

Survived by her sisters Minnie Lowe and her husband Bill and Annie Webb; one brother Wilson Bay; one daughter Nancy Almond; and three grandchildren Janet, Roger, and Robert Almond.

Visitation: Friday, August 24, 2012 from 12 Noon until Funeral Service at 1PM at La Plata United Methodist Church (3 Port Tobacco Road, La Plata, MD 20646). Clergy: Rev. Bruce Jones. Pallbearers: Wayne Hancock, David Hancock, Jimmy Cooksey, Keith Hancock, Jimmy Gray, and Brian Hancock. Interment: La Plata United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dentsville, MD.
