Oreta Delores Britt Stinson, a generous woman of God, was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina on September 20, 1958 to her proud parents, John R. Britt and Arlena Lewis Miller.

Oreta was the eldest of four daughters. She was a dutiful, faithful child and attended Pentecostal Holiness Church at a young age where she excelled in her Sunday School and was elected the Secretary. She graduated Goldsboro High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, the band and the Student Government. She was most proud of being the drum major for the marching band.

Oreta's love for God began at an early age. She was a dutiful, faithful child and attended Pentecostal Holiness Church at a young age where she excelled in her Sunday School and was elected the Secretary. She continued in her love for the Lord and faithful service to the church and community. As a member of Shalom Ministries Christian Center she served as President of the Ushers Ministry, Girl Scout Leader, Women of Worship Dance Ministry, and Leader of several planning teams. While a member at Ebenezer A.M. E. Church, she served as Co-Leader for the Girl Scouts Troop 1268. Under her leadership seven young ladies were able to receive their Gold Award. She was also a participant of God's Winning Women Ministry.

Oreta received a full scholarship to North Carolina A&T State University where she majored in Mechanical Engineering receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in 1981. She received a Master of Science degree in Business and Public Administration from Southeastern University in Washington, D.C. in 1984. During her time at A&T, she was initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where she also served as Basileus. While attending classes at A&T, she met the love of her life Mr. Frankie Stinson and after graduation they moved to Maryland. Their union was blessed with two children, Sydney Sheree and Frankie Spyder Stinson.

Oreta most recently was the Deputy Director of Navy Small Business; which she enjoyed to the fullest. She worked as a Program Manager at Naval Air Systems Command for many years. She was the recipient of numerous awards during her career: the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service award; and most recently the Department of Defense Spirit Award. Oreta was a graduate of NAVAIR's Senior Executive Management Development Program and was a member of the Acquisition Professional Community with a level III certification in both Program Management and Contracts.

Oreta was the 2nd Vice President of Nu Zeta Omega Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She also served on the North Atlantic Region Alpha Kappa Alpha My Sister's Keeper committee. She loved to socialize with friends and family, watch television, read, shop and spend time with her sorority sisters.

Oreta continued to lead a productive life during her illness and was determined not to let her medical condition hinder her. She served as a bright encouraging light to those she met, by providing scriptures and praying with various patients. After a long and valiant battle she surrendered her spirit to God on Thursday, June 7, 2012 and is now rejoicing in the presence of our Heavenly Father!

Oreta is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Mr. Frankie L. Stinson, her daughter Ms. Sydney Sheree Stinson and her son Mr. Frankie Spyder Stinson; her parents Mr. John R.
