Clovis Alboin Purnell, 71, of Waldorf, MD, passed away at Specialty Hospital of Washington - Hadley in Washington, DC on March 16, 2012. He was born in Covington, OH on January 12, 1941. Clovis was the son of the late H. Milton Purnell and the late Selma A. (Wachner) Purnell.

He loved old custom cars and watching NASCAR. Clovis also enjoyed stamp collecting, sports games, and visiting his grandchildren. Clovis worked at MWAA for 24 years and made many wonderful friends there whom he held close to his heart.

Aside from his parents, Clovis was predeceased by his brothers, Lloyd and Selmar.

Clovis is survived by his wife Lydia A. (Kirkwood) Purnell; his son, Cristan A. Purnell (Shari); his brothers John Purnell (Barbara) and Paul Purnell (Nancy); his sisters Seline (Purnell) Braun and Yolanda (Purnell) Howard; his two grandchildren, Brianna L. Purnell and Shane A. Purnell; and many other family members and friends.

Family will receive friends for a Viewing on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. There will be a Service on Saturday, March 24, 2012, 11:00AM, here at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home. Committal Service will be held at a later date at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 38888 Dr. Johnson Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659.
