Edward Joseph Carroll, Jr., 70, of Mechanicsville, MD, died September 23, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD due to complications of Lou Gehrig's Disease. Born January 9, 1941, he was the son of Edward Joseph Carroll, Sr. and Helen Rosemary Raulerson, Carroll.

Ed was a plumber and was a retired member of Plumbers Union #5, Elks Lodge in Clington, MD, and Moose Lodge in Mechanicsville, MD. He loved fishing, family and NASCAR Racing.

Predeceased by his parents and brother, Michael Anthony Carroll, Ed is survived by his wife, Shirley Lea Carroll; sons, Lawrence Edward Carroll and wife, Quirina of Kiln, MS and Dwayne Brian Johnson of Nanjemoy, MD; daughters, Angela Michele Olson and husband, Larry of Dunkirk, MD, Kimberly Ann Parker and husband, Greg of Pass Christian, MS and Michele Lea Johnson of Brandywine, MD; siblings, William David Carroll and wife, Kathy of California, MD, James Phillip Carroll and wife, Gail of Dunkirk, MD and Ann Marie Cain and husband, Kenny of Charlotte Hall, MD; also 5 grandchildren, Christian, Jordan, Lindsay, Logan and Malachi.

The family will receive friends for Ed's Life Celebration on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Hughesville Baptist Church, 8505 Old Leonardtown Rd., Hughesville, MD. A funeral service will be held at Hughesville Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Keith Corrick will officiate. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. Pallbearers will be Robert Sutphin, Ralph Round, Tommy Russell, Randy Rollins, Larry Olson and Kenny Cain.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lou Gehrig's Association, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855.
