Browder, James Rudolph, Sr. "Jim" "Jimmy" (Age 66) of La Plata, Maryland.

James Rudolph Browder, Sr., was born on July 30, 1945, in Indian Head, Maryland to his birth mother Lillian Juanita Dyson Payne. He was adopted by Lillian Browder Bruce and James G. Browder, who all have preceded him in death. He was the oldest of seven siblings. He departed his life on Monday, August 8, 2011, at the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (CCNRC) in La Plata, Maryland.

James was raised and educated in the Charles County area. During his teen years he resided in the Washington, DC area. James returned to Charles County and received an Outstanding Performance diploma in completing the External High School Program in 1989 and received a GED. James served in the U.S. Army for six years, during the Vietnam War.

James was united in holy matrimony to Delores Contee in 1966 and from that union they had two children, Veronica and James Browder, Jr.

James was a "Jack of all Trades". He had various employments, but truly enjoyed driving trucks. He was employed and retired from the Coca-Cola Company after 30 years of service. He also had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Later, he was a part-time driver for Thornton Funeral Home and his last employment was with Lady's Liquors in La Plata, Maryland. James enjoyed interacting with people at all times.

James converted from Methodist to Catholic. Later he joined the Knights of Saint John. He was also a member of the American Legion – Post 170. James truly enjoyed traveling, playing cards, playing lotteries, fishing, bowling and dancing. He also was an avid Washington Redskins fan. All in all, he loved life.

He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter – Veronica, one son, James Browder, Jr., and Kendo Batson, who is like a son, one grandson, Damien J. Smith, two great grandchildren, Damiya and Damien D. Smith and six siblings: William Matthews, Barbara Vaughan, Deborah Payne, Sherman Payne, Brigitte Hawkins, Ronald Payne, one uncle, Preston Dyson (wife Olivia) of Florida and two aunts, Roxie Bell of Connecticut and Agnes Smith (husband George) of Maryland. Finally, there is a long list of other relatives and friends.

Viewing, 8:30am until 9:30am; Tribute Service, 9:30am on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, Maryland. Interment, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
