Raymond Reith Meredith, Jr., more well known as "Junior", was born on November 28, 1946 to the late Raymond and Gerdie Thomas Meredith of Mechanicsville, Maryland. God called "Junior" to his heavenly rest on the evening of June 14, 2011 at his Oaksville, Maryland residence surrounded by family and friends. "Junior" had fought a lengthy battle with lung cancer.

Along with his parents, "Junior" is predeceased in death by his sister Wanda Louise Meredith, and his brothers James Jenifer, Willam Andrew Jenifer, David Ronald Meredith, and William Ronnie Meredith.

"Junior " was married to his loving and devoted wife, Rose Sewell Meredith for 22 years.

"Junior" earned his early education through the St. Mary's County School Systems. After serving a tour of duty with the United States Army, "Junior" worked various jobs as a heavy equipment operator with the Indian Head Naval Research in Indian Head, Maryland; Jackie Mattingly Construction Company in Mechanicsville, Maryland; Metro Construction in Washington, D.C., and other various construction companies. "Junior" in later years became a self-employed fire wood vendor; servicing people in the Southern Maryland areas; as well as participating as a Maryland State Vendor supplying fire wood to participants of the Energy Assistance Program through The Southern Maryland Tri County Community Action Committee in Hughesville, Maryland.

"Junior" enjoyed playing cards with his friends, watching baseball when he could no longer play the game and looking at old westerns on tv while enjoying his little Coors Light His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, giving out candy and fruit to his nieces and nephews. If he pulled his van into the yard - if there were kids and he didn't have his stash of sweet supplies, it was off to the store, and "Rose, get them boys their candy".

"Junior" leaves to cherish his memory - his supportive and caring wife Rose Sewell Meredith; son Raymond Reith Meredith, III, of Great Mills, Maryland; daughters, Jill Woods-Baker of Promfret, Maryland, Joy Meredith (fiance Cordell Johnson) of Lusby, Maryland , Candy Meredith of Forestville, Maryland;; steppdaughter Pansey Reeves of Waldorf, Maryland; sister Margaret Plater of Mechanicsville, Maryland; brothers Francis Jenifer of Suitland, Maryland and Joseph Meredith (Patsy) of Mechancisville, Maryland.; Grandchildren - Amyra Meredith, Raymond Jaron Meredith, Latisha Holton (Derrick), Chiquita Baker, Carlos Baker, Diamond Owens, Jaide Owens, Maleek Johnson, Carlos Mackall, Michael Dotson and James Dotson; Great Grandchildren - Tyrek Wood, Kyeria Phillips, Omarion Woods, Briona Hawkins, Lavar Holton, Cassidy Gray, Princess Baker, Prince Baker and Araya Meredith; Godchildren - Megan Holt, Rayshawn Douglas and Keyaira Ford; aunts Dorothy Thomas, Gladys Thomas and Sarah Adams; sisters in laws Betty Jenifer, Catherine Jenifer, Yvonne Ford, "Mary Reds" Sewell, brother in laws Thomas Sewell and James Sewell; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Pallbearers: Connie Plater, James "Ron Ron" Plater, Jerry Plater, Darius Woodland, Allen Woodland and Michael Dorsey.

Honorary Pallbearers: Kevin Jenifer, Allen Jenifer, Wendall Jenifer, Jimmy Jenifer, Rodney Adams, and Carl " CJ" Bowman.

A viewing Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 9-11 a.m. at The Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD where Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
