Charlotte L. Cook, 89, of Bushwood, MD died May 3, 2011 at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD. Born September 23, 1921 to the late William Burch and Mary A. Quade Burch of Laurel Grove in Mechanicsville, MD.

She was the loving wife of the late Robert Cook, whom she married in 1938.

Mrs. Cook is survived by her daughters; Betty Stewart of Delaware, Ann Hall (John) of Chaptico, MD, Charlotte Toney of Clements, MD, Susan Shotwell (Glenn) of Bushwood, MD, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Wood of Clements, MD; along with siblings; Dorothy Friess, Leona Bassford, Mary Bassford, Philip Burch, Howard Burch, and James Burch.

Mrs. Cook was a homemaker. She enjoyed picking hard crabs, shucking clams and for many years she shucked clams for a living for Captain Sam Bailey. She loved spending time with her family and was an excellent cook and baker. She was known for her crabcakes and biscuits.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home where prayers will be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD with Fr. Francis Early officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be; Bob Stewart, John Hall, Jr., Kenny Wood, Robert D. Toney, Franklin Shotwell and James Goldring, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons; Bobby Stewart, Kyle Wood, Paul Toney, III., Jessie Toney, Tyler Major, and Dusty Lyon.
