Mr. Spencer was a Avionics Engineer for 13 years with the DCS Corporation at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. He was a former band member with "The Yes Men" where he played lead guitar. He was a collector of BMW classic cars. He enjoyed traveling, spicy foods. Most enjoyed being with his kids, with music and camping.

Son of Leon Spencer and Jan Newell. Survived by his father, Leon Spencer of Joplin, MO; his mother, Jan Newell of Sapulpa, OK; wife of 18 years, Malissa Bates Spencer of La Plata, MD; one son, Ian P. Spencer of La Plata, MD; one daughter, Hannah M. Spencer of La Plata, MD; one brother, Aaron Spencer of Joplin, MO; two sisters, De Anne (Gene) Meador of OK; Emily Spencer of Joplin, MO. Also survived by his beloved pets DD, Trudy and KC.

Gathering of friends on Saturday, April 2, 2011, from 12 noon until memorial service time at 1PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Rev. John Crestwell will officiate. Interment will be private.
