Dorothy Mary Jenkins, 87, of Cobb Island, MD, died May 18, 2010, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata, MD.

Dorothy was known as the historian of Cobb Island and a long time member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church at Issue, MD, where she served with the Ladies of Charity. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Takoma Park Volunteer Fire Department. She served for 10 years on the Charles County Substance Abuse Advisory Commission. She was a member of the Cobb Island Citizens Association, a Past Grand Marshall of Cobb Island Days, and Miss Cobb Island of 1939. She was a friend of Bill W.

Born May 14, 1923, in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Kitchen and the late Mary Agnes Fugazzi Kitchen.

Predeceased by her parents, and her late husband, Kester F. Jenkins.

Survived by daughters, Janet M. Walker of Syracuse, NY; Nancy C. and her husband James Berulis of Slidell, LA; sons, Kester "Buddy" and his wife Gina Jenkins of Barstow, OK; Bruce W. and his wife Ellen Jenkins of Chesapeake Beach, MD. Also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 23, 2010, from 5-8 PM with prayers at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Additional viewing on Monday, May 24, from 10-11AM at Holy Ghost Church, Issue, MD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 24, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Holy Ghost Church.

Father Greg Coan will officiate.

Interment will be at Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James, Daniel and Michael Berulis, Zachary Jenkins, Rick McGrowen and Joseph Dressel.
