Anna Lucille Hancock, 81, of Nanjemoy, MD, died March 14, 2010, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata.

Mrs. Hancock was a homemaker and worked with her husband on their farm since 1948 helping raise award-winning black angus cattle, tobacco, and tending her garden. She was a member of the Nanjemoy Baptist Church and the Eastern Star where she was very active with both. She loved being with her family, especially at Sunday get-togethers with food and new babies. Known as Maw-Maw or Miss Honey by all.

Born October 28, 1928, in Maryland Point, MD, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward Bastain and the late Violet Cornelia Posey Bastain.

Predeceased by her parents; husband, Gerald Sidney Hancock; sons, Steven and Mark Anthony Hancock.

Survived by son, Gerald Wayne and his wife Olive Hancock of Nanjemoy, MD; daughters, Judith E. and her husband Robert Berger of Nanjemoy, MD; Brenda A. and her husband Dale Gilroy of Ripley, MD; daughter-in-law, Nancy Lynn Hancock; brother, Thomas E. Bastain, Jr., of Nanjemoy, MD; sisters, Mildred Miller of Portsmouth, VA; Judy Rye of Nanjemoy, MD. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 18, 2010, from 5-8 PM with prayers and Eastern Star service at 7:30 PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646 with additional viewing on Friday, March 19, 2010, at Nanjemoy Baptist Church from 1-2 PM.

Funeral Service will be Friday, March 19, 2010, at 2 PM at Nanjemoy Baptist Church.

Rev. Brian Corrick will officiate.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
