Leonard J. Clements, 81, of Bryantown, MD, passed away on January 9, 2022, at Calvert Health Medical Center.

Leonard was born in La Plata, MD, on January 16, 1940. He was the son of William Noble Clements, Sr. and Christine Mudd Clements. Leonard grew up on the family farm in Newport. He attended Glasva School and La Plata High School where he graduated in 1958. He married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Mae Goldsmith, on his birthday in 1960. As faith was an essential part of his life, Leonard was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bryantown. He served on the Parish Finance Council and often volunteered at St. Mary's Bryantown School.

Leonard's working career was in banking as a Vice President at Calvert Bank & Trust Co. until his retirement in 2004. The friendships made with his colleagues and customers were invaluable to him. A man of all seasons, Leonard enjoyed working in his yard, tending wild birds, trips to Ocean City, and decorating for Christmas. He always appreciated the simple pleasures in life – anything from working on a puzzle, eating a Food Lion strawberry shortcake, listening to polka music on the RFD channel, to fishing on a clear day. Above all, Leonard loved spending time with his family and friends. He never met a stranger. Leonard was a wonderful husband, an amazing father and grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. The grief of his passing is immeasurable; he will forever live in our hearts.

In addition to his parents, Leonard is predeceased by his son, Leonard J. Clements, Jr.; brothers, William Noble Clements, Jr., and Joseph Allison Clements, and his sister, Evelyn Doris Brooks. Leonard is survived by his wife, Audrey Clements; daughters, Tina Clements Smith and Susan M. Williams; grandchildren, Jessica N. Smith (Anthony Panis), Sydney A. Williams, and Trent T. Williams; brothers, Edward V. Clements, Sr. (Joyce) and Thomas Carroll Clements (Charlotte).

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 17, 2022, at St. Mary's Catholic Church (13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD) from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM, with a prayer service at 7PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 10AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church; Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Mary's Bryantown Catholic Church. Online condolences can be shared with the family at arehartechols.com.
