Mary Barbara Cecil Lawrence, 88 of Leonardtown, MD passed away on September 7, 2021 at The Hermitage Assisted Living Center in Solomons, MD. Born on March 9, 1933 in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Francis Geroe Cecil and Alma Marie Raley.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Leonardtown. On October 2, 1954 she married the love of her life, Edward Clyde Lawrence. Together, they celebrated 59 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in November 2013. Barbara loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a happy person who loved living in Leonardtown. Barbara loved to dance and she danced until her last days.

Barbara is survived by her children, Susan Dyer (Joseph) and Sharon Cox of Leonardtown, MD; Gregory Lawrence (Zawmi) of Harpers Ferry, WV; Nancy Smith (Leon) of Spotsylvania, VA; and John Lawrence (Erin) of Owings, MD; her grandchildren, Matthew Keen, Kathleen Schwarzwalder (Benjamin), Rebecca Cox, Samantha Lawrence (Devon), Ashley Lawrence, Monica Lawrence, Jessica Smith (Benjamin), Kristen Scimeca (Jonathan), Kelly Smith, Grady Lawrence, Benjamin Lawrence and Jonathan Lawrence; her great grandchild Lawrence Oster-Smith, and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she is also preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Cecil Hall and brothers, Francis Cecil and Walter Cecil; her son Glenn Lawrence and her granddaughter Kimberly Cox.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 22800 Washington Street, Leonardtown, MD 20650, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. with Father David Beaubien officiating. Interment will be private. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Dyer, Leon Smith, Grady Lawrence, Benjamin Schwarzwalder, Benjamin Oster, and Jonathan Scimeca.
