Robert William Linkins, 87 of Rison died November 26, 2008 at Civista Medical Center, LaPlata.

Robert was educated in the Charles County Public School System. He retired from the Naval Ordinance System in Indian Head after many years of dedicated service. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in WWII. He loved working at his Sawmill, wood crafts, gardening and spending time with friends. Especially Richard Dorsey, Robert Parker, Vincent Goudeaux and Jeremiah Montague. He kept young at heart and mind by his relationship with his great niece Jehnae Linkins and great nephew Jerome Linkins, Jr.

Born September 23, 1921 in Rison, Maryland he was the son of the late William and the late Daree A. Swan Linkins. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Swann Linkins; brothers: James, Clifton, William and Melvin Linkins; sisters: Mary Carroll (Hunsie), Kathleen Pettie, Elizabeth Aguayo and a special friend Helen Diggs.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Thomas "Tucker" Linkins, sisters; Helen "Teenie" Linkins, Frances Linkins Mims, a special niece and devoted caregiver, Jehnell Linkins and her family Jerome, Sr., Jerome, Jr., and Jehnae Linkins; daughter, Wanda Sue Linkins Yarber, son-in-law, Marvin; grandson, Darryl Linkins and wife Demetria; great grandchildren, Brittany, Dominique, Darryl and Danielle, as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

His viewing will take place on Friday, December 5th, 10:00am until time of service 12:00noon at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel, (Rte. 227) 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
