Dianne Joyce Kasten, 68 of Waldorf, Maryland died April 30, 2016 in Arlington, VA.

Dianne was a library media specialist for 35 years with the Prince George's County Board of Education. She graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971 and with a Master's in Library Science from the University of Maryland in 1974. She taught elementary school in Annandale, Virginia from 1971-1973 and then in Prince George's County from 1974-2012. She was nominated Prince George's Teacher of the Year in 2010 and winner of My Favorite Teacher Award in 2011.

She enjoyed time with Facebook, daily breakfast at Panera, riding in a convertible on a nice day, and traveling with her husband and dining out daily at local restaurants. She was an avid reader and hosted a book club and was a long-time member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomfret where she served as a Eucharistic minister.

She was the daughter of Henry Buczynski and Sophie Gaca Buczynski. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Paul Kasten; her daughter Elizabeth; her son Gregory and his wife Isabel; her brother Henry "Hank" Buczynski and wife Kathi; her nephew, Eric; her niece Andrea; and many cousins.

Friends received on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with Wake Service at 7PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Hall. Friends will also be received on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 10AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomfret, Maryland. Interment in the church cemetery.
