Joseph Roland Hayden, 89 of Loveville, MD passed away on December 21, 2015 at the St. Mary's Hospice House in Callaway, MD. Joseph was born on December 7, 1926 in Thompkinsville, MD to the late Webster and Mattie Hayden. Joseph is also predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Norma Hayden.

Joseph is survived by his daughters, Sandra Patterson of Surfside Beach, SC, Rebecca Hayden, Beverly Messick and Peggy Wilkinson all of Mecahnicsville, MD; and brothers, Wilson Hayden of Berwyn Heights, MD and Phillip Hayden of LaPlata, MD; as well as 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A lifelong resident of St. Mary's County, Joseph was a WWII Veteran and a member of the D.C. Fraternal Order of Police, the National Police Officers Memorial in D.C. and the Navy Seabee Veterans of America. Over the years, Joseph and his late wife cared for 27 foster children. He loved bluegrass music and antique cars.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 24, 2015 from 9AM to 11AM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, 211 St. Mary's Ave., LaPlata, MD. Prayers will be said at 11AM by Pastor Dave Huffman. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Rd., Waldorf, MD.
