Joseph "Joe" McQuillan Burch, Jr., 87, of La Plata, MD passed in peace on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Genesis Nursing Home in La Plata, MD. Joe was born on November 8, 1927 in St. Mary's County to the late Joseph McQuillan Burch, Sr. and the late Bertha Marie Burch of Tappahannock, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Catherine Dean of La Plata, MD and Marie Strasburg; brothers, James Richard Burch of Clifton, MD and Treman Franklin Burch; and step-son, Gary Lynn Oliver of Newburg, MD.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Mazie Ann Oliver Burch of La Plata, MD. Joe is also survived by his sons, Joseph Aluyius Burch and his wife, Denise of Cobb Island, MD, William Bernie Burch and Ellie of Tennessee; step-daughters, Alberta Hickman and her husband, Dan of Fredericksburg, VA, Dorothy Drummond and her husband, Lenny of Westminster, CA, Janet Oliver and Kenny of Hollywood, MD, Cathy Waybright and her husband, Larry of Colonial Beach, VA and Cecelia Johnson and her husband, William of Welcome, MD; step-sons, Robert Oliver and his wife, Nancy of Charlotte Hall, MD, Lewis Phil Oliver and his wife, Judy of Nanjemoy, MD, Ernest Oliver and his wife, Dorothy of King George, VA and Donald Oliver and Barbra of Hughesville, MD; grandchildren, Sarah Burch of Cobb Island, MD and Isreal Burch of Waldorf, MD; Joe will also be missed by many step-children.

Joe was a member of St. Anthony Church in King George, VA. Joe was a farmer in his early years. Retired from State Hwy. Administration in La Plata, MD, Joe was the oldest of 11 children. He enjoyed dancing, country music, driving, yardwork and eating great food. Joe loved keeping his eyes on his wife, Mazie.

The family will receive friends at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, 211 St. Mary's Ave., La Plata, MD on Monday, September 14, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will also be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at the Trinity Memorial Gardens Waldorf, MD.
