Walter "Walt" Taylor Sollars, Jr, 84, of La Plata, MD died on August 28, 2015 at Charles County Hospice, Waldorf, MD. He was born on March 4, 1931 in Washington, DC to the late Walter Taylor and Lucille Hyde Sollars, Sr.

Walt served in the United States Navy as a helicopter mechanic. He worked as a planning estimator for the Naval Ordinance Station (NOS) in Indian Head for 30 years. After his retirement from NOS he worked along with his best friend Snookie Sullivan doing electrical and plumbing jobs for many county residents.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post in La Plata. He loved ballroom dancing with his late wife Clara. He was a lifetime resident of Charles County and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Plata, MD.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his wife Clara Elizabeth Tippett Sollars and brother in-law Danny Raymond. He is survived by his son Gregory W. Sollars and his fiancée Donna G. Hashagen and one sister Elizabeth Sollars Raymond.

Friends received on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 5 – 8 PM with a wake service and American Legion Ceremony at 6:30 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 Saint Mary's Ave, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery following the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Charles County Hospice House, 2505 Davis Road, Waldorf, MD 20603.
