Dorothy Mae Russell, 75, of Leonardtown, MD died May 2, 2015 at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD. She was born on August 19, 1939 in Miami, FL. She was raised by her loving father, the late Howard Wieland.

Dorothy is a graduate of Howard University. In 1960, she married her beloved husband, Francis Herbert Russell at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Compton, MD. Together they celebrated 54 wonderful years of marriage.

She was employed by St. Mary's County Government at the Emergency Operations Center as a 911 Dispatcher, with 22 years of dedicated service until her retirement in 1999.

She was an avid reader, especially Beauty and the Beast. She enjoyed shooting pool and belonged to a pool leagues in the past. She enjoyed cheering on the Washington Nationals baseball team. Her greatest love was for her husband. She was a member of Lexington Park Rescue Squad and served as a past installation officer.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved spouse, Francis H. Russell of Leonardtown, MD; her sister-in-law, Mary Dryden (Richard Harvan) of Leonardtown, MD; her nieces, Trudy Wible and Wendy Fitzgerald; great niece, Shannon Fitzgerald; great nephew, Tyler Fitzgerald; and many cousins and extended family. She is preceded in death by her father.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 5:00 p. m. till 8 pm at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P. A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD with a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. It will be celebrated by Pastor Lynda Purdy. Interment will be Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 10:00 a. m. at Charles Memorial Gardens in Leonardtown, MD 20650.
