James (Butch) Edward Canter, Jr. 55 of Hughesville died April 3, 2008, at Washington Hospital Center.

Born, August 19, 1952, in La Plata, Maryland, he was the son of James Edward Canter, Sr. and Marianne Moran Canter.

He graduated from La Plata High School in 1970.

In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball. He also enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two sons, Harold J. Canter his wife Crystal, and Kenneth R. Canter and Erin Flowers; three grandchildren, Isabella, Dominick, and newly arrived Brooklyn. He is also survived by sisters, Mary Beth Gawthrop and husband Ed; Cathy Mattingly and husband Jenks; Teri Burch and husband Joe; Tina Norris and husband Mark; and a brother, Buster Canter and wife Barbara; and many nieces and nephews.

Butch's Life Celetbration will be on Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Brinsfiled-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. in Charlotte Hall, MD from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM. Prayers will be said at 7PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, April 8th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bryantown, MD at 11AM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
