Peacefully, on January 14, 2015, at the UM Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland Emily transitioned to eternal life. Emily was born on November 9, 1934 in Waldorf, Maryland to the late William Arthur Chase and Dorothy Jane Chase. She was six of nine children. Emily attended the Charles County Public School System.

Thereafter, she met Isaac Pender (deceased) and after a long engagement they married on May 31, 1965. In the 1970's, Isaac & Emily were very successfully operating "The Blue Bird Inn" in Waldorf, Maryland specializing in barbeque ribs. Thereafter Emily became a mail carrier with the La Plata Post Office for approximately 10 years.

Left to cherish many memories are her daughters, Debbie Chase, Darlene Butler and Renee Pender. One brother, William Chase (Theresa) and one sister, Helen V. Chase. Two sisters-in-law Vera Pope and Lillie Pender Holmes in North Carolina; grandchildren, Kevin Chase, DeAunte Lancaster (Adrian), Kimmie Chase, Cory Chase, Lawanda Butler; Antoine Pender, Brandon Pender, Ryann Pender and Sade Covington (Radee), great-grandchildren, Malik Washington, Deianeira Pender; Dezmen Lewis, Elijah Pender, Gabriel Covington; Terraia Chase, Kevin Chase, Jr., Alyce Chase, Kanyce Chase, Adrian Lancaster, II, DeAndre Lancaster, Courtney Chase, McKenzie Chase, Jakari Chase, one great-great-grandchild Laila Denise Marie Bacon and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Emily's viewing will be Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm with prayers at 7:30 pm at Adams Funeral Home, 20605 Aquasco Road, Aquasco, MD. 20608. On Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Zion Wesley UM Church, Waldorf MD. viewing will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, service 11:00 am –12:00pm., burial to follow at Cheltenham Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
