Thomas Daniel Somerville was born on September 20th, 1932 in Compton, Maryland to the late Thomas and Sara Somerville. He was the only child and he attended Banneker High School.

Thomas was united in matrimony to Gertrude Delores Somerville on February 11, 1956. This union was blessed with five children, Thomas Daniel JR, Gertrude Lawanda, Kenneth Ignatius, James Antonio and Robert Fitzgerald. His favorite hobbies were playing cards, going fishing, and playing the Guitar in the Ralph Butler Band for many years. He also loved spending time with his late Aunt Dela and Uncle Joe Buchanon.
