Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Willett, 81, of Pomfret, MD died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 8, 2014. Born on July 17, 1933 in La Plata, MD, she was the daughter of the late James Bealy Welch and the late Helen Adams Welch. Mrs. Willett was a life-long resident of Pomfret, MD and attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomfret.

She retired in 1989 as a secretary for the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, MD with 34 years of federal service. In addition, she served as the Secretary of the Charles-St. Mary's Baseball League from 1970-1975.

She loved reading books, the Washington Redskins, and the Washington Nationals. But her greatest love of all was for her family. Until early 2014, there were very few sporting events or games that her grandchildren played in that she was not there rooting them on. She was their number one and greatest fan. Her great-grandchildren brought her much happiness and entertainment. She was so proud of her family.

Mrs. Willett was predeceased by her late husband, Joseph Leonard Willett, Sr. She leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her children Susan and her husband Harrison Sanders of Pomfret, MD, Wanda and her husband Mike Delia of Prince Frederick, MD, Julie Thompson of Waldorf, MD, Tracy and her husband James Ogren of Pomfret, MD, and Joseph Leonard Willett Jr., Carin Gilroy, and James Roy Willett, all of Pomfret, MD. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Evelyn Jameson of Pomfret and many relatives and friends.

Visitation was on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 5-8PM with a Wake Service at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service Chapel in La Plata, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 beginning at 10AM at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph Way, Pomfret, MD 20675 with Interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Clint Sanders, Darren Sanders, Wesley Delia, Matthew Ogren, Marcus Ogren, and Tyler Croson.
