A step Back in Time - Log Sawing Demo @ Cecil's Old Mill
On Dec 17th they fired up the saw mill at Cecil's Old Mill in Great Mills and treated us to a demonstration of how they used to cut lumber in generations past. We have plenty of photos as well as a video and PodCast.

St. Mary's County Oyster Festival
These photographs were recorded during the 36th annual St. Mary's County Oyster Festival. The festival was held in October of 2002 at the county fairgrounds in Leonardtown, Maryland. Organizers reported that approximately 14,000 people attended the event this year.

Cecil's Mill was originally built as a cotton/ textile factory in the 1800's. Later, it was transformed into a grist mill and saw mill. After restoration, Cecil's Old Mill has become a National Landmark in Historic St. Mary's County and is home to some of the finest local arts and crafts around. Cedar Point Lighthouse

The lighthouse used to stand on Cedar Point on the lands of the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland. What remained of the Cedar Point Lighthouse was salvaged in October of 1996 and delivered to Calvert Marine Museum. In place of the century-old crumbling lighthouse, a radar reflector now stands. Since 1947, country and city residents of Southern Maryland have enjoyed the St. Mary's County Fair. The fair is a four day festival of non-stop agricultural exhibits and entertainment. The fair is held annually in September on the third weekend after Labor day.
