The Charles County Amateur Radio Club provides emergency communications for Charles County and the immediate surrounding areas, in support of the Office of Emergency Preparedness, for Charles County Maryland. We do stress the educational/technical part of amateur radio, while providing Public Service Emergency & Non-Emergency communications. Through an integrated radio network, we provide all forms of support from assisting with evacuation of storm/accident affected areas, to assisting with communications during locally celebrated national campaigns such as, March of Dimes Walk-a-thon, Oxen Hill Bicycle Indian Head 100, etc., to sending/ receiving data used at emergency shelters during local weather events. Our monthly membership meetings are held on the first Friday of each month, at the historic LaPlata Train Station in La Plata, Md. We begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. We also offer frequent licensing classes. You do not need a license to come to the meetings or become a member however, you do require a licensee before operating a radio. Please contact the club Membership Chairman, Bob Davidson, for more information on the club or Amateur Radio in general, please use the contact link.[ Last Updated: 07-Feb-2012 | Hits: 393 | Reader Comments Report Problem

We are a group of Macintosh users who thought there might be a number of other Mac users out there that might like to get together, once a month and discuss Mac's. We don't have a set schedule of topics, but hope that we can learn more about our computers, the operating system, and any cool new applications out there for the Mac. Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.[ Last Updated: 18-Dec-2003 | Hits: 177 | Reader Comments Report Problem
