OFFICERS IDENTIFY AND ARREST BURGLARY SUSPECT: On Nov. 2 at 1:02 a.m., officers responded to a liquor store in the 4600 block of Indian Head Highway in Indian Head for the report of an intrusion alarm. When officers arrived, they noticed broken glass and blood by the front window. Surveillance footage showed the suspect entering the store and stealing cigarettes and liquor. He was wearing a bright orange coat, and it was apparent he injured his hand. Officers canvassed the area and learned the suspect might be at a local hotel. Further investigation revealed someone matching the suspect's description had just entered one of the hotel rooms. Officers subsequently obtained a search warrant for the room where they located the suspect, Howard Bernard Dent, 49, of Temple Hills. They also recovered evidence linking Dent to the burglary. A computer check revealed Dent had an open warrant in another county. Dent, who was charged with burglary and theft, is being held at the Charles County Detention Center. Officer A. BURGLARY: Sometime during the overnight hours of Nov. 6, unknown suspect(s) broke into an unlocked shed in the 4400 block of Austin Drive in La Plata and stole a pressure washer, a circular saw, and other power tools. Officer R. McMullen is investigating.
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY, CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING CASH REWARD: On Nov. 5 at 8:30 p.m., officers responded to the report of a robbery at a sandwich shop in the 2100 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf. Investigation showed the suspect—who was wearing black clothing and a ski mask—entered the shop, displayed what appeared to be a gun, and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspect fled, possibly with another male. No one was injured. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. C. Shankster at (301) 609- 6513. VANDALISMS: The CCSO is investigating two vandalisms that occurred sometime between Nov. 3 to Nov. 5 in the 1000 block of Stone Avenue in Indian Head. Unknown suspect(s) spray painted explicit graffiti on one house and the letter "G" on another house. Officer K. Collins is investigating.
THEFTS FROM AUTOS: During the overnight hours of Nov. 4, unknown suspects broke into several unlocked cars in the Kingsview neighborhood in White Plains and stole various items left in the consoles. Officer A. Croyle is investigating.
