LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Oct. 30, 2016)—A serious crash in Mechanicsville Friday evening involving 2 vehicles left 2 people trapped and 2 others ejected. Police say the crash was caused by a Jeep driver who unexplainedly left the roadway, then came back onto the road and crashed into a Nissan Frontier which was stopped at a traffic light. The Jeep struck the Nissan so hard that it rolled over after being pushed up against the curb. Four people were in the Nissan.
The accident occurred at approximately 6:27 p.m. in the area of Three Notch Road and Mechanicsville Road. Officers arriving on scene discovered a 2011 Nissan Frontier off the roadway with two passengers ejected, and the driver was trapped. Gellings then struck the 2011 Nissan Frontier which was stopped at the red light on Mechanicsville Road waiting to turn north onto Three Notch Road. The Jeep pushed the Nissan sideways until the Nissan struck the curb and the edge of the roadway and rolled over before coming to rest on its tires.
