Hollywood Teen Found Dead on UMBC Campus

The investigation is classified as a death investigation

BALTIMORE (Oct. 10, 2016)—At 12:34 a.m. Sunday morning, Baltimore County Police and Fire personnel responded to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) campus in the 1000 block of Hilltop Circle 21250 after a student was found unconscious. The student was declared deceased at the scene by medical personnel.

Baltimore County Police have identified the UMBC student as 17-year-old Eric Thomas Askins from Hollywood, Maryland. Askins was a freshman at UMBC.

There were no signs of foul play. The official cause of death will be determined by the Office of The Chief Medical Examiner.

The Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit is investigating this death. The Homicide Unit investigates sudden deaths where the cause is not apparent.

This investigation is classified as a death investigation.
