LA PLATA, Md. (Aug. 15, 2016)—A seventy-five year-old Port Tobacco woman passed away Sunday afternoon as a result of injuries sustained in a head-on collision Tuesday with another car carrying 5 children. The woman was identified as Susan Marie Hildner.
On Tuesday, August 09, at approximately 4:06 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack responded to the vehicle collision on Maryland Route 6 at Mary Drive in Charles County.
A preliminary investigation indicates a 2011 Honda Pilot operated by Ms. Hildner was traveling on westbound MD Route 6 in the area of Mary Drive. At the same time, a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe operated by Teri Lynn Traudt, 42, of La Plata, and occupied by 5 minors was traveling on eastbound MD Rt. 6 in the area of Mary Drive. For unknown reasons, Ms. Hildner failed to drive right of center and entered the eastbound lane of MD Rt. 6. The Honda Pilot subsequently collided head-on with the Hyundai Santa Fe.
As a result of the collision, all occupants of the Hyundai Santa Fe were transported by ambulance to University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center for treatment. Ms. Hildner was transported by Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 2 to INOVA Fairfax Hospital for treatment.
On Sunday, August 14, at approximately 4:17 p.m., Ms. Hildner succumbed to her injuries at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
