Community Bank of the Chesapeake Welcomes New Board Members



WALDORF, Md. (Aug. 3, 2016)—Community Bank of the Chesapeake announced that Kim Briscoe-Tonic, James M. Burke, Gregory C. Cockerham and James F. Di Misa have joined its Board of Directors. In addition, James M. Burke has been named as President and Chief Risk Officer of the Bank, William J. Pasenelli will become Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and Christy Lombardi has been named as Corporate Secretary for both the Bank and its Parent Company, The Community Financial Corporation.

Kim Briscoe-Tonic is a respected business leader in Charles and St. Mary's counties, Maryland. She, along with her husband Anthony Tonic own and operate the Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, P.A. with locations in Waldorf and Mechanicsville, Maryland. Ms. Briscoe-Tonic founded the company with her husband in 2008. The company was an immediate success, garnering the Charles County Chamber of Commerce 2010 Small Business of the Year Leading Edge Award. "Kim Briscoe-Tonic is a long-time customer and advocate of Community Bank of the Chesapeake and I am pleased that she has accepted a position on our Board," said Michael L. Middleton, Chairman. "She will bring extensive insight into the small business community and help us to further connect with the community."

James M. Burke, President and Chief Risk Officer of Community Bank of the Chesapeake—Mr. Burke brings to the board expertise in the efficient and effective management of significant risks and related opportunities, balancing the risk and reward with the Bank's strategic objectives and goals. Mr. Burke has served as Chief Risk Officer of the Bank since 2005. In this role he has led the Bank's response to the credit challenges of a growing and changing Bank. Mr. Burke is active in a number of charitable and civic activities including serving on the Boards of the ARC of Southern Maryland, St. Mary's Ryken High School and Historic Sotterley.

Gregory C. Cockerham, Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer of Community Bank of the Chesapeake—Mr. Cockerham has been in lending for over 35 years and has an extensive knowledge into the commercial lending industry. His perspective will provide the board with further understanding and expertise in this area. Mr. Cockerham joined the Bank in 1988 and has served as Chief Lender for over 27 years. In that capacity, he has helped Community Bank to its current market leading position. Mr. Cockerham is active in a number of civic and charitable activities. He currently serves as President of the Rotary Foundation Board of Charles County, Past Chair of the College of Southern Maryland Foundation Board, Past Chair of the Maryland Title Center Board and Finance Chair of Potomac Baptist Association.

James F. Di Misa, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Community Bank of the Chesapeake—Mr. Di Misa has over 30 years of experience in bank operations. He joined Community Bank in 2005. He has served as Chief Operating Officer since that time. Mr. Di Misa has been instrumental in increasing Community Bank's market share in the Southern Maryland area. He also brings a broad expertise in commercial banking to his position. Mr. Di Misa is active in civic and charitable affairs in Southern Maryland. He is the Chairman of the Maryland Banking School Trustees and serves on the College of Southern Maryland Foundation Board, the Ethics Commission for the Town of La Plata and Rotary Foundation Board of Charles County.

In addition, William J. Pasenelli, Chief Executive Officer of Community Bank of the Chesapeake, has been named Vice Chairman of Community Bank of the Chesapeake's Board of directors. Mr. Pasenelli has been with the Bank since 2000, serving as Chief Financial Officer, President/Chief Executive Officer and currently as Chief Executive Officer. His extensive knowledge in the financial industry and leadership of the organization will further enhance the Board's team. Mr. Pasenelli serves on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Banker's Association and the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.

Ms. Christy Lombardi, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Community Bank of the Chesapeake, has been named Corporate Secretary. Ms. Lombardi has been with Community Bank nearly 20 years and brings years of experience in administrative and corporate governance matters. She is active in civic and charitable affairs and currently serves as Chair of the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and on the Southern Maryland Workforce Development Board.
