Jerry Brown of Waldorf.
BALTIMORE (Aug. 2, 2016)—Lucky Jerry Brown of Waldorf is no newcomer to Maryland Lottery games except for Racetrax, which he started playing a week or so ago. It didn't take long for him to win big!
On Saturday, the Washington, D.C. government employee stopped at his regular spot, Plaza Liquors in Waldorf, to play Lottery games. Jerry placed a 3, 6, 9 and 12 Superfecta Box bet and watched the monitor in the store as the computer-animated horses took off. Under a box wager, his horses can finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in any order.
As soon as he saw his horses cross the finish line, Jerry knew he was a winner. He confirmed his win with the store owner and then went home.
"I told my wife and she didn't believe me," said the 55-year-old, smiling. "I'm a jokester, so it took a while before I convinced her that I really did win."
The grandfather of one will use some of his windfall toward an already planned trip to Atlanta. He also plans to pay bills, save some of the money and give a little to his children.
His lucky Lottery retailer, Plaza Liquors at 3215 Plaza Way in Waldorf, will receive a $280 bonus for selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 and up.
