LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 29, 2016)—Leadership Southern Maryland raised nearly $8,000 for its Heritage Fund at the 4th Annual Golf Tournament held on June 3. The annual event is part of LSM's mission of networking with local leaders in a casual setting. The funds raised allow LSM tuition to remain at an affordable level, provides scholarships for nonprofit candidates, and supports the Teen Leadership Academy—LSM's youth program.
Swan Point Yacht & Country Club hosted 12 teams of golfers on the 18-hole championship course. Throughout the course golfers had the chance to win a 2016 Chevy Cruze, a 4-day 3-night golf vacation, Travis Mathew golf clubs, and a Travis Mathew golf outfit with a $500 web spree all sponsored by Winegardner Automotive Group.

The first place team represented Gateway Bank Mortgage Inc., and its players were Steve Combs , Richie Piniewski, Dave Bean, and Joe Lockman. Additionally, Steve Bishop and Todd Jubeck were recognized for closest to the pin; Dave Swift for longest drive (male); Roberta Sola for longest drive (female).
Leadership Southern Maryland is designed and dedicated to educate and inspire a diverse group of current and emerging leaders to create collaborations and partnerships to impact the community needs of Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's counties and incorporates a cross-section of the region to include diversity of geographic location, profession, ethnicity and gender. Leadership Southern Maryland is a nine-month tuition-based program.
