Charles Co. Real Estate Agent Wins $50,000 Top Prize in July 16 Drawing

BALTIMORE (July 20, 2016)—The old saying that haste makes waste doesn't apply to the lucky Waldorf man who just claimed the $50,000 top prize in the Bonus Match 5 game.

The Charles County resident, who elected to remain anonymous, visited Kellers Market in Prince George's County on Saturday afternoon and bought a Bonus Match 5 ticket for that night's drawing. The 64-year-old says he visited that particular retailer because he was in a hurry and the store is close to where he lives. He also didn't spend any time selecting numbers because he keeps a completed playslip in his car.

The lucky winner doesn't gamble or check results of his Lottery games on Sundays. Because of that practice, he didn't know that he had a winning ticket until Monday.

"Bonus Match 5 is my favorite game because I like the odds," he said. This is his second top-prize Bonus Match 5 win. He last won the $50,000 prize in 2008 and has enjoyed smaller wins over the years. When he shared his good news with his wife of 38 years, he said she was hardly surprised. She replied, "Again?" when told the July 16 drawing delivered the top prize.

The part-time real estate agent does not have any special plans yet for his winnings.

Kellers Market located at 15624 Livingston Road in Accokeek also benefits from selling the top-prize winning ticket in the game. The lucky retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
