LEONARDTOWN, Md. (June 9, 2016)—Superintendent of Schools, Mr. J. Scott Smith, today announced the administrative appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of June 8, 2016.
The Board appointed Dr. Curtis Alston as Title I Elementary Student, Family, and Staff Engagement Supervisor in the Department of Supplemental School Programs. Dr. Alston holds a Doctorate degree from Walden University, a Master's degree from Salisbury University, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts. He currently serves as the Principal of Lexington Park Elementary School.
Mr. Joseph "J.R." Beavers has been appointed as Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Lexington Park Elementary School. Mr. Beavers holds a Master's degree from McDaniel College and a Bachelor's degree from Bowie State University. He currently teaches fifth grade mathematics at Dynard Elementary School.
Ms. Laurel Dietz has been appointed as Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Captain Walter Francis Duke Elementary School. She holds a Master's degree from Towson University and a Bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College of Maryland. Ms. Dietz currently serves as Supervisor of Instruction for Fine Arts in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development.
Ms. Angela Fulp has been appointed Supervisor of Special Education in the Department of Special Education. Ms. Fulp holds Master's degrees from Old Dominion University and James Madison University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia. She currently serves as Principal of Spring Ridge Middle School.
Ms. Jamie Jameson has been appointed Principal of Evergreen Elementary School. She holds a Master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor's degree from James Madison University. Ms. Jameson is currently Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Captain Walter Francis Duke Elementary School.
Mr. James Peeler has been appointed Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Margaret Brent Middle School. Mr. Peeler holds Master's and Bachelor's degrees from the State University of New York at Cortland. He currently teaches fifth grade math and science at Oakville Elementary School.
Ms. Contina Quick-McQueen has been appointed Principal of Leonardtown Elementary School. She holds Master's degrees from Towson University and McDaniel College and a Bachelor's degree from Francis Marion University. Ms. Quick-McQueen is currently an Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Great Mills High School.
Dr. Rebecca Schou has been appointed Principal of Lexington Park Elementary School. Dr. Schou holds a Doctorate from Walden University, a Master's degree from Loyola University, and a Bachelor's degree from Slippery Rock University. She most recently retired from Anne Arundel County Public Schools as the Senior Manager for School Supports and Equitable Practices.
Ms. Kimberly Summers has been appointed Principal of Chopticon High School. She holds a Master's degree from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College of Maryland. Ms. Summers currently serves as Principal of Evergreen Elementary School.
Ms. Annette Wood has been appointed as Pupil Personnel Worker, 12 month, in the Department of Student Services. She holds a Master's degree from Western Maryland College and a Bachelor's degree from Salisbury State University. Ms. Wood currently serves as Principal of George Washington Carver Elementary School.
Ms. Wendy Zimmerman has been appointed Principal of Spring Ridge Middle School. Ms. Zimmerman holds a Master's degree from Towson University and a Bachelor's degree from Millersville University. She currently serves as Academic Dean II at Fairlead Academy II.
The Board of Education also approved the following Administrative Transfers:
Ms. Susan Ballinger will transfer from Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Leonardtown Elementary to Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Spring Ridge Middle School.
Ms. Laura Carpenter will transfer from Assistant Principal, 12 month, at Dynard Elementary School to Assistant Principal, 12 month, at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School.
Mr. Jeffrey DiRenzo will transfer from Assistant Principal, 12 month, at Spring Ridge Middle School to Assistant Principal, 12 month, at Leonardtown Elementary School.
Ms. Denise Eichel will transfer from Principal at Leonardtown Elementary School to Principal at George Washington Carver Elementary School.
Ms. Erin Johnson will transfer from Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Lexington Park Elementary School to Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Dynard Elementary School.
Mr. Tyler Radez will transfer from Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Margaret Brent Middle School to Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Green Holly Elementary School.
These appointments and transfers will become effective Friday, July 1, 2016.
