White Marsh Elementary School Will Be Open on Thursday Despite Water Outage


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 18, 2016)—White Marsh Elementary School in Charlotte Hall will be opened for students and staff on Thursday, May 19, which includes PreK students in the White Marsh Elementary School district who attend Lettie Marshall Dent Elementary School.

Due to problems with the well pump at the school, there is no water supply at this time. Students were dismissed at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17 due to the problem.

Portable water coolers will be provided at the school for drinking. In addition, the menus will be modified by using pre-packaged items that have been prepared at another licensed food service facility as follows:

• Breakfast and Snack Program meals will consist of individually wrapped items such as milk, juice, cereal, pastry, and cupped fruit.

• Lunch Meals will consist of individually wrapped items and boxed meals.

• Disposable trays and plastic ware will be provided as needed

St. Mary's County Public Schools is continuing to work under the direction of the St. Mary's County Health Department.
