BALTIMORE (March 30, 2016)—The Coast Guard rescued a boater Tuesday from Tanner Creek near Point Lookout State Park.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Baltimore received a report at approximately 4 p.m. of two people aboard a kayak and two people aboard a paddleboat beset by weather.
A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station St. Inigoes launched to assist. When they arrived on scene, three boaters made it to shore on their own, and the crew assisted the last boater by bringing her and the paddleboat to shore.
"This case highlights the importance of wearing a lifejacket, and equally important, to make sure they all fit," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Gary Kovack.
All boaters were wearing lifejackets at the time of the incident. There were no reports of injuries.
