71-Year-old Brandywine Woman Passes in Single Vehicle Accident


LA PLATA, Md. (March 27, 2016)—A 71-year-old Brandywine woman died as a result of injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident on Friday around 6:21 p.m. The woman was identified as Mary Proctor.

The accident happened in the 16000 block of Woodville Road in Brandywine.

Police investigators determined that the driver of a Toyota sedan was traveling south on Woodville Road when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. All three occupants of the car were transported to a hospital where one of the passengers, Ms. Proctor, was pronounced deceased. The driver, 48, and another passenger—a 26-year-old woman—both from Brandywine, were treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Master Corporal J. Hopkins of the Traffic Operations Unit of the Charles Co. Sheriff's Office is investigating.
