Waldorf Man Passes from Injuries Sustained in Earlier Accident

LA PLATA, Md. (March 26, 2016)—A Waldorf man passed away early this morning as a result of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident on Thursday. The man has been identified as Ernest Young, III. The accident happened around 9:04 p.m. at southbound MD Rt. 5 at Roosevelt Place.

Police investigators determined a Honda Odyssey, operated by Arthur Christopher Edelen, of White Plains, was attempting to cross the travel lanes of southbound Maryland Route 5 from a crossover to enter Roosevelt Place. At the same time the Odyssey was attempting to cross the southbound lanes, a Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, operated by Mr. Young was traveling in lane number 1 on southbound Maryland Route 5 at Roosevelt Place. The operator of the Odyssey failed to yield to oncoming traffic and the motorcycle collided into the passenger side of the Odyssey.

Mr. Young was transported by MSP Trooper 2 to Prince George's Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision and the investigation is continuing.
