Mother Catherine Academy Growth Beats Expectations

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. (March 14, 2016)—Mother Catherine Academy in Mechanicsville is reporting that enrollment for the 2016/2017 school year is currently at 114 students; 50 percent higher than at this point last year.

School officials identify the school's key attributes as a strong Catholic identity, academic excellence to include small class size, affordable tuition and strong ties to the community.

"Parents choose MCA for many reasons and a school-wide survey we conducted placed 'manageable class size' at the top of that list," said Jessica Bowles, principal at the Academy. The average class size this year was 15; the largest class had 25 students. Excellent faculty, and instruction tailored to the individual, were also at the top of the survey results.

"The smaller classes allow MCA to offer advanced math classes and an enrichment program, as well as a strong selection of after-school activities, just a few of which include drama, gardening, cooking, and computer programming," added Bowles.

The school provides education through the 8th grade starting with a three-year-old program. Tuition is the same for Catholic and non-Catholic students with multi-child discounts.
