Rita Marie Reece, of no fixed address, was arrested for a burglary at a Leonardtown home in Jan.
LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Feb. 8, 2016)—A 32-year-old woman was arrested Friday for a residential burglary at a home in the Leonardtown area which occurred in January 2016. The suspect was identified as Rita Marie Reece, with no fixed address.
The burglary was initially investigated by patrol troopers from the MSP Leonardtown Barrack. Investigators from the MSP Criminal Enforcement Division, Central South Region, subsequently obtained information identifying a residence in the Lexington Park area that allegedly contained evidence pertaining to the burglary. After reviewing the facts with the St. Mary's County States Attorney's Office, a search and seizure warrant was applied for and obtained.
On February 5, members from the MSP-Criminal Enforcement Division, patrol troopers from MSP-Leonardtown Barrack, MSP Special Tactical Assault Team Element (S.T.A.T.E.) and a detective from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office-Criminal Investigation Division executed the warrant at the residence.
A search of the property revealed evidence pertaining to the burglary, suspected heroin and Ms. Reece. She also had an open warrant through the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office. Reece was arrested and later released to a deputy with the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.
Additional charges are pending a review with the States Attorney for St. Mary's County.
