LA PLATA, Md. (Jan. 8, 2016)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

CCSO INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE ON ROOKS HEAD PLACE/CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING A CASH REWARD: On January 6 at 2:05 p.m., officers responded to the 2600 block of Rooks Head Place in Waldorf for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A preliminary investigation showed the victim and suspect had a confrontation in the parking lot of a neighborhood when the suspect produced a gun and shot the victim. The suspect fled on foot. Detectives canvassed the area and are working on leads. The victim has been identified as Lydell Walter Wood, 29, of Waldorf. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. J. SECOND-DEGREE BURGLARY: On January 6 at 3 p.m., officers responded to the 13000 block of Swindler Road in Newburg for the report of a burglary. Farm equipment was stolen from in and around the victim’s barn. Pfc. J. Campbell is investigating.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE: On January 5 at 9:49 p.m., officers responded to Beth Court in Indian Head for the report of a theft from a motor vehicle. The investigation showed a purse was stolen from the vehicle. A witness reported seeing a male dressed in dark clothing running away from the area at approximately 9:45 p.m. Pfc. R. Smith is investigating.

FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On January 5 at 11:32 a.m., two people were sitting in a parked car in the 4800 block of Indian Head Highway in Indian Head when an unknown truck approached and someone inside the truck fired a BB gun at the parked car, shattering the driver’s window. The suspect truck fled. Neither of the occupants in the car were injured. The victims called 911 and followed the truck to the 5400 block of Chapman’s Landing Road, where they waited for officers to arrive. Upon arrival, officers located the unoccupied truck in the woods. Officers subsequently identified and located three suspects—two 17-year-old males and a 16-year-old male. The suspects were charged as adults with first-degree assault. Cpl. T. Yates investigated.
