LA PLATA, Md. (Dec. 14, 2015)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.
BURGLARY: On December 13 at 9:22 a.m., officers responded to the 8100 block of Vacchiano Drive in Port Tobacco for the report of a burglary from a residence under construction. Unknown suspects stole materials and equipment from within the residence and in adjacent sheds, which were locked. Officer B. Cox is investigating.
CITIZEN ROBBERY: On Dec. 11 at 12:11 p.m., officers responded to 3742 Crain Highway for the report of a robbery. Investigation showed the victim was exiting a restaurant when she was approached from behind by an unknown suspect who grabbed her purse and pushed her down. The suspect fled in a silver-colored car. Officer L. Miles is investigating.
FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: On Dec. 12 at 2:38 p.m., officers assigned to the CCSO Traffic Operations Unit responded to the area of St. Charles Parkway and Post Office Road in Waldorf for the report of a serious motor vehicle crash. Investigation showed the driver of a motorcycle was traveling north on St. Charles Parkway when he struck a Honda Accord which was turning left from southbound St. Charles Parkway into the Smallwood Village shopping center. Both drivers were transported to the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center where the operator of the motorcycle, John Talmage Barnette, 54, of Waldorf was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Honda, a 76-year-old woman from Brandywine, was treated for non life-threatening injuries. Master Corporal J. Hopkins is investigating.
