Holiday Season Operations Schedule
All St. Mary's County Government Administrative Offices will be closed Friday, December 25, 2015 for the Christmas holiday and Friday, January 1, 2016 for the New Year's holiday.
The St. Andrews Landfill, six Convenience Centers and St. Mary's Transit System (STS) will be closed on Friday, December 25 in observance of Christmas and Friday, January 1 in observance of New Year's. In addition, the six (6) convenience centers will open early for operations the week of December 21 - 24 (specifically 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) The early opening is a convenience to our customers and allows for the anticipated increase in usage of the facilities by County residents during the busiest time of the holiday season. Landfill hours of operation will remain 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. during this time. The STS System will be open for normal business hours the day before and day after the observed holiday.
As a reminder, Christmas trees will be collected at the landfill and convenience centers free of charge. Undecorated trees may be placed in designated areas between December 26 and January 31. Last year, the County collected nearly 5 tons of Christmas trees, which were mixed with the collected yard waste and ground into mulch. Almost 5,000 tons of mulch is produced annually at the St. Andrews Landfill site and provided to county citizens free of charge while supplies last.
All three St. Mary's County Library locations (Charlotte Hall, Leonardtown and Lexington Park) will be closed Thursday - Sunday, December 24 - 27 for Christmas. The libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 31 and remain closed on Friday, January 1 for New Year's.
All three Senior Activity Centers (Garvey, Loffler and Northern) will be closed Friday, December 25 for Christmas and Friday, January 1, 2016 for New Years. There will be no home delivered meals on those days.
