ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. (December 1, 2015)—St. Mary’s College of Maryland has appointed Michael R. Wick to the position of provost and dean of faculty. In this position, Wick will report directly to the president. He will join St. Mary's College in summer 2016.

Wick currently serves as associate vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean of graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, a position he has held since 2009. While in this position, Wick has provided leadership for, and coordination of, academic programs and unit program review and faculty development and evaluation. Prior to this position, he served as director of first-year experience and chair of the computer science department.

As provost and dean of faculty at St. Mary's College, Wick will oversee all academic programs and services, faculty development, sponsored research, the library, the Boyden Gallery, and athletics.

“Dr. Wick has a deep understanding of academic programs and curricula and a strong commitment to the liberal arts and public education,” said St. Mary's College President Tuajuanda C. Jordan. “His leadership experience, coupled with his record of teaching and scholarship, make him a perfect fit for the position. Dr. Wick will be a valuable addition to the executive council and to the St. Mary's College community as a whole.”

“My wife, Jackie, and I are honored and excited to join the St. Mary's family,” said Wick. “I feel privileged to have the opportunity to serve the faculty, staff, and students of St. Mary's and to facilitate their continued record of remarkable achievement.”

Wick holds a PhD and master's degree in computer science from the University of Minnesota, and a bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

His appointment concludes a rigorous national search led by the Maryland-based executive search firm Witt/Kieffer.
