CCSO LogoLA PLATA, Md. (Nov. 21, 2015)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

OFFICERS ARREST MAN IN ATTEMPTED ROBBERY CASE: On Nov. 17 at 3:38 p.m., officers responded to the 2060 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. The victim reported he was talking on his cell phone when he was approached by a male who asked to use his phone. The victim refused and the suspect assaulted him and attempted to steal the phone. The victim fought back and the suspect fled. Officers located the suspect nearby and arrested him after he was positively identified. Alphonso Leroy Black, 19, of no fixed address, was charged with assault, attempted theft and attempted robbery. Officer J. Brown is investigating.

ROBBERY: On Nov. 17 at 7 p.m., officers responded to the area of Annapolis Woods Road near Firetower Road in Welcome for the report of a robbery. The victim stated he was working on a motorcycle and took it for a drive. When he reached Firetower Road, he reported a white or gray work van drove around him and stopped, blocking him in. The passenger of the van – who was wearing a mask and armed with a handgun – jumped out and ordered the victim to get off the motorcycle. The victim complied and the suspect fled on the motorcycle. The motorcycle is a green, 2007 Kawasaki ZX10 1000 with black rims and blue valve caps. Cpl C. Gilroy is investigating.

OFFICERS INVESTIGATE REPORT OF MAN IMPERSONATING OFFICER: On Nov. 16 at 10 a.m., officers responded to the area of Billingsley Road near Dutton’s Bridge in Bryans Road for the report of a theft. The victim stated he was hunting when a man wearing camouflage clothing, a bright orange hat, and carrying a rifle –which was draped across his chest – approached him. The suspect told the victim to drop his gun and move away from it; the victim complied. The suspect stated he was with Department of Natural Resources police (DNR), showed some type of identification card, and told the victim he was illegally hunting on a "protected watershed." The suspect then told the victim he was confiscating the gun. The suspect left and the victim notified police. Officers canvassed the area and contacted DNR who advised there were no officers in that area of the county that day. The suspect is described as a black male, 6’3”, 250 lbs., with a dark complexion and a goatee. There have been no similar reports. Officer K. Barry is investigating.

ROBBERY: On Nov. 13 at 2:20 p.m., officers responded to the area of Gateview Place in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. The victim stated he was walking home when three males approached and demanded his shoes. The victim refused, at which time the suspects assaulted him and stole his shoes and money. Officer J. Brown is investigating.

MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH VANDALISM TO BUSINESS COMPUTER: On October 27 at about 10:30 a.m., Marc Christopher Brown, Jr., 22, of Brandywine entered a department store in Waldorf and began tampering with a computer used by people seeking employment. An employee observed Brown and inquired as to what he was doing. Brown indicated he was hired to fix the computer. As the employee attempted to verify the information, Brown left the store. It is not clear why Brown was tampering with the computer. Investigators identified Brown and a criminal summons charging Brown with destruction of property was issued by a District Court Commissioner. Further investigation revealed Brown was unable to retrieve any personal data. Det. S. Webster is investigating.
