Daniel Carney Selected for St. Mary's Board of Education Post

Swearing in set for November 24

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Nov. 19, 2015)—Daniel L. Carney will be sworn in as the St. Mary's Co. Board of Education's newest member at the board's next meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, November 24 at 9 a.m. The meeting will take place inside the Board of Education's meeting room at 23160 Moakley Street in Leonardtown.

The Commissioners of St. Mary's County appointed Mr. Carney following a vetting process. The appointment was announced at their November 17 business meeting and is effective immediately.

Mr. Carney was among 29 candidates who applied for the seat, vacated by retiring Board of Education Member Marilyn Crosby, on September 30. Three public forums were held which provided a platform for all candidates to present their qualifications and answer questions posed by commissioners.
